With that being said, we feel that there are some players that are being overshadowed in the state. Below our writers has chosen a player to spotlight as underrated and gives some background information about the athlete.
Angelo Allegri, 6’7, 2017, St. Thomas Aquinas
Allegri has been a popular name on our website since we have launched and deservedly so. He can flat out play. He does a great job of getting his own shot. Allegri is a really good athlete with length and explosiveness. He can rebound really well for a wing and is a versatile defender as well. I truly believe he would be a steal at the D2 level.

Israel Barnes, 6’4, 2018, Wichita Southeast
Yes, he’s our No. 2 ranked player, but I’m including him in our under-rated rankings because college programs have not yet taken notice. At last report, Barnes held just one offer, from Tulsa, and we are rather perplexed how that could be … Barnes is a terrific all-around player, can handle the ball, shoot from the outside, creates his own shot and is a true competitor. He’s an impressive player and will likely earn more offers in the upcoming months.

Anthony Selden, 6’5, 2018, Lawrence
He’s still extremely raw as his all-around game is a work in progress. He can score some in the post, rebounds the ball pretty well and is a good defender. But where Selden is at his best is playing above the rim. He’s one of the more exciting athletes you’ll see in Kansas. If he improves his all-around game, sky is the limit.

Jariah Taylor, 6’5, 2017, Wichita South
He’s a long, athletic kid that has an explosive first step, can get to the bucket and score. He can play above the rim, finish in transition and has a smooth perimeter jumper. To me, he’s a low level Division I prospect potentially, and could be a steal for a Division II program. He’s South’s leading scorer so far this season at nearly 15 points per game.
