Five Performers….
- East High School’s Junior Guard Piol Makuei erupted for 36 points and 8 rebounds against Clearfield.
- Theron Wallentine had 30 points on 5 three’s for Ridgeline as they beat Weber.
- Mason Falsev 6’1 Freshman for Sky View had a career high 26 points and a win against Madison, ID.
- Austyn Brinkerhoff of 1A Bryce Valley had 33 points to beat Wayne High School.
- Trevin Knell had 31 points on 5 threes in a upset loss to Taylorville.
Five Surprises….
- Stockton Shorts had another great outing posting a 34 spot on Bingham. We are surprised he hasn’t received more offeres, the kid can flat out play!
- Herriman High School is bad, they only have 3 wins this season, would be surprised if they picked up 3 more. Only bright spot is 6’3 Ryan McCann’s 16 ppg.
- Timpanogos High School is playing well, they’re 8-3 with one bad 3 point loss to Jordan. 6’3 Sophomore Matt Norman is averaging 17 ppg.
- Springville as 3 losses under 4 points and they look scary good. They should win their region with heady PG Josh Elison.
Five Upsets…
- Taylorsville shocks the Utah high school world with a shocking win over powerhouse Woods Cross 72-66.
- Struggling Alta (3-7) beats rival Corner Canyon (7-2) to open up region play 60-56 for their 3 win of the season
- 2A North Summit beat 3A Morgan 66-65 as the Braves exploded for a 24 point 4th quarter.
- 3A Carbon (7-7) beat previously undefeated Emery (11-1) 68-54. The Dino’s never looked back after the 1st quarter. Emery couldn’t go 2-0 in this rivalry rematch.
- Cottonwood (3-9) picks up win #3 at the expense of Jordan (8-4) 49-43. Last time the Colts won more than 4 games in a season it was 2010.
Five Noteworthy…
- Copper Hills flexes it’s muscles against previously #1 Bingham with a 59-57 OT thriller. We can’t wait for round 2.
- There are 2 undefeated teams left, 13-0 Dixie and 10-0 Panguitch.
- Can Trevin Knell reach over 736 points in a season to reach the top 10 in scoring in the state?
- Marcus Draney is putting brand new school Sky Ridge on his back. Just beat Orem by 1 and he scored 26 points.
- 6’0 Junior Adam Santiago of Timpview is putting up impressive numbers this season. He has scored in double figures in 7 of 8 games.
Five Rolling…
- Copper Hills (9-3) is playing with a major chip on it’s shoulders and has rattled off 4 in a row.
- Pleasant Grove (11-1), everyone is looking forward to see what they can do against AF and Lone Peak
- Hillcrest (9-1), can they continue to roll against Kearns, Murray and Olympus?
- Dixie, 13-0 but have they peaked too early? Can they beat Ridgeline and Juan Diego in the tournament?
- Juan Diego (10-2), host Ridgeline (8-3) on Friday the 13th in a very anticipated match-up.
*Wasatch Academy has won 11 games in-a-row and ranked 39th in the country and #1 in the state. They play the #2 team in Florida on the 15th/ 7th ranked team in the country. IMG Academy features Trevon Duval #1 PG Class of 2017 and 5th best player in the country. Good luck Coach Condie.
