Fremd 55 Barrington 39
On Friday Undefeated Fremd squared off against Barrington. The Fremd Vikings would come out playing very tough defense and would not let up, often mixing in a full court man to man press leading to turnovers for Barrington. Limiting Barrington to just 15 first half points. Fremd kept the pressure on in the second half getting out to 6-0 run to open the game up and never look back to secure the win and remain unbeaten. Here are my Fab Five for the game
MVP: Kyle Sliwa (Fremd)
The Senior Guard had an all- around good game. He played under control and with poise. Kyle was able to efficiently score from all three levels, and in a variety of ways from deep three pointers to tough through the lane baskets and also got to the free throw line. He ended up with 21 points to help Fremd remain unbeaten.
Offensive Performances: Kyle Sliwa (Fremd) Ryan Martin (Fremd)
While Kyle Sliwa provided most of the scoring punch with 21 points he also had some help from Junior guard Ryan Martin who used a quick first step and strength to get to the rim and finish some impressive drives. Martin finished with 11 points and will be a guard to track with small college potential.
Defensive Performance: Jackson Perkins (Barrington)
The 6’7 Senior was a strong presence inside for Barrington finishing with 14 points 11 rebounds and 3 blks. Perkins was a bright spot for Barrington, 3 big blocks gave his team some spark when they needed it, and controlled the glass with 11 boards.
Play of the game: Brian Dompke (Fremd)
In the 4th quarter after Barrington cut the lead to 10. Brian Dompke got the ball of the break and threw down a monster one handed slam. This extending the lead to 12 and would seal the deal for Fremd.
Biggest Takeaway:
First time checking out both squads I was impressed with Fremd’s solid defense and all around tough style of play. Hard noised kids who are unselfish and spread the ball around. Moving to 14-0 they should continue to be the favorite in their conference.
