MVP
PG Noah Moss (Triad – 2017)
Moss was the man for Triad on the night. The 5’10” point guard is a solid ball handler in traffic. Has a tendency to over dribble at times. Best attacking in the lane where he can finish in the paint. Moss got to the free throw line at a high rate where he shot it well. Did drill one from three. Moss had 15 points. Small college prospect.
Best offensive performance
SF Damond Crosby (Salem – 2018)
Crosby is a projectable 6’4” small forward that when his motor is running can be really effective. He seems to drift in and out of games. Early in this one he was outstanding hitting a deep three, transition dunk, and was extremely active getting in passing lanes for steals with his length. Also had a nice read in the pick and roll. Was quiet the majority of the second half. Needs to add strength and be more consistent with the motor throughout games. Finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Can definitely be a D3/NAIA player in the right situation in a couple years.
Best defensive performance
PF Cole Steward (Salem – 2017)
Steward is a football player at the next level, but is a fun hoops player to watch. At 6’4” 240 pounds he is a physical presence inside. Loves to bang with opposing post players in the paint. Area rebounder that is a defensive presence in the paint with his strength. Had a block in the game. Steward flashed skill with a pair of mid-range jumpers and a couple passes. He had 10 points.
Best intangibles
SG Brenden Boles (Salem – 2017)
Boles is a crafty shooting guard that has outstanding intangibles. Crafty ball handler. Gets to the free throw line. Wasn’t a huge offensive game for Boles. He had 8 points. Baseball prospect for college.
Best under-the-radar performance
SG Beau Barbour (Triad – 2018)
Barbour is a tough wing that can shoot it. Good looking perimeter stroke from deep. Also made a couple nice passes inside. He had 9 points.
