With Cape Fear HS football team reaching the state championship game, their basketball roster was depleted through the first month or so but now they are back to full strength. Overhills got out to a big lead in the 3rd quarter but Cape Fear would fight back and take the lead with under a minute left, only to have Overhills get the win after a clutch corner three.
Game MVP: Overhills HS 2018 Guard Latrell Lloyd- Latrell is a very athletic player that can play above the rim but has improved his jump shot at a high rate. Throughout the game he knocked down numerous trey balls and came up with some big time blocks above the rim, He finished with 22 points on the night.
Best Passer: Cape Fear HS 2017 Guard A.J Baldwin–Western Carolina made the trip to Overhills to check out this young man and he showed everybody in the building why he is considered a legit D1 prospect. He can score the ball just about whenever he wants it and is a very gifted passer, he finished with 26 Points on the night.
Play of the Day: Overhills HS 2017 Josh Richmond- with Cape Fear having the lead late into the game, Josh caught the ball in the corner behind the three point line and knocked down a big time shot. Throughout the game he was very efficient from three point land and would finish with 22 Points knocking down three treys.
Best Athlete: Cape Fear HS Wing Chris George– Chris is a stellar athlete, and that was on full display Friday night, he blocked shots, made plays above the rim and rebounded well. One play in particular that everyone will remember is an alley-oop pass that he finished with a tomahawk dunk, Chris finished with 17 Points on the night.
Best Lefty: Overhills HS 2019 Zavian McLean– Zavian has a smooth game for being such a young player, he understands angles and how to use the glass well. He defends well and has solid lateral quickness that helps him keep his opponent in front of him, He finished with 13 Points on the night.
