What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are?
“With my size, I’m able to score in the paint pretty well and I’m able to step out and consistently knock down three pointers.”
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on?
“I would like to work on my ball handling so I can take people off of the dribble more often. Also, I’d like to rebound the ball better.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Utah High School basketball?
“If I had to pick one it would probably be jarriesse blackmon when he played for Layton. He was able to score in so many ways and being 6’7 he was tough to stop.” Blackmon currently plays for UC Santa Barbra.
What team on your schedule do you want to beat the most and why?
“I would say American Fork. They are our biggest rivals and this year we will be playing them at Lone Peak for the time in six years. It should be a fun game.”
What team that isn’t on your schedule in Utah do you want to play the most and why?
“Copper Hills and Bingham. Copper Hills because they beat us out of the state tournament last year. And Bingham because they are the defending state champs. We played them a couple of times in the summer and they were very intense games. I would like to meet up with them during the state tournament.”
Who is your favorite NBA player and why?
“Kobe Bryant. He plays the game with so much passion and has a killer instinct that no one else really has. I enjoyed watching him when he was still playing.”
What is your favorite moment in your high school career?
“This year versus George Washington, the number one team from Colorado. I was shut out in the first half but I was able to score 19 points in the second half and we were able to come back and win.”
Who has the best home crowd in the state other than your own?
“Other than ours I would say Pleasant Grove. They really get up for games against us and their student section is huge. It’s a fun game to play in and they have beaten us a few times recently so it should be a great game this year.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“Ping pong and pool and also playing Super Smash Brothers with my teammates.”
What do you want to major in for college?
“Financial business”
What is your plan for after high school?
“I’m going to graduate early and go on a LDS mission to the North Adriatic Mission. I will be serving in Bosnia, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, and Montenegro. Once I get back in 2019 I will attend Westminster College in Salt Lake City on a basketball scholarship.”
Prep Hoops evaluation
Nate Harkness is a nice looking wing prospect. The 6’5 senior is a great three point shooter who can also play defense at a high level. He’s from a great program and is a winner. Harkness also has the ability to finish around the basket and I think that will translate to the next level. He’s a huge steal for Westminster College and I believe he will be a big time D2 player once he gets back from his mission and shakes the rust off.
