What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are?
“Shooting the three is my biggest strength. Also, I try to find my teammates for open shots when I drive in the paint. I’m a pretty good on ball defender as well.”
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on?
“I need to rebound better for my team and I also need to be a better help side defender. A goal for next year is I would like to shoot the mid range better so I can score from anywhere on the court.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Utah High School basketball?
“Taylor Marteliz from Kearns. I liked the way he played. He was a good all around player and was really good at finding his teammates.” Marteliz is currently playing for Western Wyoming Community College.
What team on your schedule do you want to beat the most and why?
“Olympus. They are ranked as the best team in the state and I want to beat the best.”
What team that isn’t on your schedule in Utah do you want to play the most and why?
“Woods Cross. I want to compete with Trevin Knell from Woods Cross. He’s one of the best guards and I want to see where I stand.”
How do you see your team doing this year?
“I think we can get in the top four in our region . We can compete with anybody.”
Who is your favorite NBA player and why?
“Allen Iverson. He changed the game with how good he was for being an undersized guard. I like playing with a chip on my shoulder like Iverson did.”
What is your favorite moment in your high school career?
“This year versus Hunter I made 6 three pointers and had 27 points.”
Who has the best home crowd in the state other than your own?
“Hillcrest. They had a very loud crowd and it was a crazy environment.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“Spending time with my friends. I like playing ping pong and playing NBA 2K.”
What do you want to major in for college?
“My goal is to be an attorney so I would like to study law.”
What is your plan for after high school?
“I want to try to earn a scholarship to play college ball.”
Prep Hoops evaluation
Cody Meza is an undersized guard at 5’9 but makes up for it with what he brings to the table. He is a knock down three point shooter and is able to shoot of the dribble, spotting up, and coming off of screens. Meza has a nice handle and can beat defenders off the dribble and is good at finding his teammates. I project him as a mid-level juco or NAIA prospect.
