Bolingbrook 78- Homewood-Flossmoor 73
The undefeated Bolingbrook Raiders squared off against rival Homewood-Flossmoor for the second time this year. Bolingbrook won the first matchup 67-62 earlier to win the Hinsdale Holiday tournament.
This game would get out to a fast start and you could tell this was a rivalry game. Bolingbrook would have a 20-14 lead after the 1st quarter and would extend it up to 30-18 at one point before shooting guard Jeffery Boyd got hot hitting three straight three pointers including one from NBA range. The game was all tied at 39 going into the half. Boyd’s hot shooting continued throughout the third as they would take the lead going into the 4th 62-58 however big plays from Sophomores Tyler Cochran & Joe Yesufu helped propel Bolingbrook to a comeback victory to remain undefeated on the year. MVP: SF Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook 2019)
The sophomore guard had a breakout performance coming off the bench and finishing with 26 points. Cochran added a huge spark for Bolingbrook he was effective on the break getting to the basket and finishing some tough shots around the rim. He also showed he can score from deep hitting 3 three pointers. The strong bodied SF took over down the stretch scoring 8 straight points which included an and-1, three pointer and a mid-range jump shot. Showing off a versatile game and helping give Bolingbrook the lead in the 4th quarter and get the win.
Offensive Performance: Jeffery Boyd (Homewood- Flossmoor 2017)
The long lengthy 6’3 guard had big time shooting performance and was in the zone for 3 quarters of the game. Boyd totaled 6-three pointers in the game including one well beyond what would be NBA range. He also had a 4 point play and a stretch where he would come down and hit 3 deep three’s in a row. Boyd also attacked the basket for some scorers as well as getting to the line. Boyd finished with 31 points.
Defense Performance: Malik Binns (Bolingbrook 2017)
Malik Binns a senior at Bolingbrook is built like a NFL rush end. At 6’6 the PF used his strength down low to grab 9 rebounds and have 3 monster blocks. Binns was rim protector all night and when he wasn’t blocking a shot he was altering shots down low. The athletic PF also had 16 points

Binns had 9 rebounds and some big offensive boards down the stretch.
6th Man of the game: Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook 2019)
Cochran was the MVP of the game with 26 points
Play of the game: Joe Yesufu (Bolingbrook 2019)
This game provided many highlight worthy plays, but down one Yesufu would pick the pocket of Jarrett Tribble for the steal and sped down the court and threw down a two handed slam. The dunk gave Bolingbrook a 73-70 lead with 1 minute to play.
Best under the radar performance: Jarrett Tribble (Homewood-Flossmoor 2017)
The H-F guard hit 3 threes and added 18 points to help keep HF in the game. When you thought Bolingbrook would break out and extend their lead he would come down and get a bucket.
Best Underclassmen: Tyler Cochran (Bolingbrook 2019)
Cochran will certainly be a prospect we continue to track. Breakout performance from the sophomore. –Maurion Scott of H-F (2019) Also had a nice game adding in 10 points, long 6-3 guard really likes to use his length to work the mid-range. 2019 guard Joe Yesufu played really well down the stretch for Bolingbrook the strong guard loves to use the mid-range floater or attack the rim.
Best Intangibles: Nana Akenten (Bolingbrook 2017)
The Nebraska commit and leader for Bolingbrook does it all. He was active on the glass played with poise and is the vocal leader out on the floor for Bolingbrook. Can score from all three levels which makes him tough to guard. He chipped in 12 in the victory.
Biggest Takeaway:
Bolingbrook is a deep team with many scoring options which can make it hard on opponents. You never know who is going to have a hot night. In this game it was Tyler Cochran & Malik Binns, but next game it could be Nana Akenten, Kaleb Thornton, Joe Yesufu or Trevor Ross. They play as a team and are unselfish.
