Bingham 66 Corner Canyon 51
In the opening game Bingham had 4 players reach double figures. Branden Carlson scored 22 points. Corner Canyon was down 5 points at the half and remained in the game thanks to 6’2 Sr. Michael Scheffner who scored a game high 29 points. In the end the Miners were just too much for the Chargers to handle.
Davis 61 Lehi 53
In the second game of the day the Darts balance attack was impressive and so was 6’9 Jr. Rich Stucki and 6’6 Jr. Ben Rigby as they were able to show why they will be a tough out against anyone. Lehi’s bright spot was 6’4 Sr. Zach Peterson who shot lights out going 7 of 8 from three, the sets that Lehi was running for Peterson left him open most of the time as he kept Lehi within striking distance.
Copper Hills 87 Olympus 73
In the third game Copper Hills and Olympus were tied up after the 1st quarter and the Grizzles started to pull away slightly every quarter after that. This was a great statement game for Copper Hills as they have been written off as a contender due to all of the seniors they graduated. Unsigned 6’4 Sr. Stockton Shorts statement game changed the views of all the non-believers as he scored 41 points. 6’2 So. Jeremey Dowdell had 24 points for the Titans.
American Fork 71 Bountiful 35
In the night cap of the final game of the Elite 8 American Fork hammered Bountiful as they held them to 2 points in the 2nd quarter. In the game The Cavemen had 10 players get on the scoreboard and they held all Bountiful players under double digits. American Fork was lead by Dylan Simpson and Mason Warenski as they each had 12 points.
Day 2
Bingham vs Davis 8:15 and American Fork vs. Copper Hills 6:45 are poised to be competitive games that are a must watch. Davis has the height to compete with Bingham and the experience as well. AF’s young players will have to figure out a way to contain Stockton Shorts. This could be a major statement game for the Grizzles.
