Utah County- The players below are some of the very best in Utah Valley. All but one of the players below is leading his respective team in rebounding, and they are all one of the leaders for their program. These are the top 5 power forwards by PrepHoops.com.
1. Braxton Bailey (Provo) The 6’6 senior has played varsity basketball since freshman year, and that experience is really paying off. Bailey is currently averaging 27 PPG and has been on fire from outside, with over three 3’s per game. Braxton is a big time scorer and shot maker, he really knows how to fill it up from the outside, but can also take it off the bounce and use his skill to finish at the rim. He has the height and length to be a great stretch 4 at the next level. Braxton is a low D1 to high D2 prospect, but could benefit from 1-2 years at a JUCO.
2. Jake Whitehead (American Fork) The 6’6 senior for the Cavemen is the most athletic player on this list. Jake can really climb the ladder and finish above the rim, he is especially quick on his second jump. Jake is looking to become more of a complete player this season and really improve on his jump shot. If he can keep progressing and become a better shooter, Jake is a mid-major D1 to D2 prospect
3. Nate Harkness (Lone Peak) The 6’4 swingman has come out sharp for the Knights. One of two returning starter from last year, Nate has really picked up his game and is averaging right under 20 points per contest. Nate is a good shooter and an above average athlete. Look for Nate and the Knights to make another deep run in March at the state tournament. Nate is a D2 to NAIA prospect.
4. Bridger Noles (Spanish Fork) Bridger is the leading scorer and rebounder for the Dons this year and the only junior on this list. The 6’4 forward has already had multiple double double’s this season, and is a very good player in the open floor. He excels at running the floor and has the athletic ability to have a strong finish at the rim. Bridger should have the talent and the support from teammates to beat any team in Region 8 on any given night. Bridger is a D2 to NAIA prospect.
5. KJ Wesley (Mountain View) The 6’4 senior forward has come out strong for a new team. KJ played his sophomore and junior year at Orem, but decided to go back to Mountain View and finish out his high school career. KJ is a strong mid-range and 3 point shooter, and is one of the best players on an experienced and strong Bruin team this year. KJ plays for Hoops ASL in AAU and is a D2 to JUCO prospect.
