Utah County- The most important position on the floor is led by these standouts. Below are Prephoops.com top five point guards in Utah Valley.
1. Puka Nacua (Orem) The 2 year starting sophomore point guard is the engine that runs the ship for the Tigers. Puka has all the tools to be a top flight point guard at the next level if he decides to play basketball. He has the size, strength, and speed to be a D1 point guard. Look for him to play football at the next level, following in the foot steps of all of his older brothers.
2. Steven Ashworth ( Lone Peak) The 5’10 guard out of Alpine is off to a great start for the Knights. Steven is an unselfish floor general that loves to get his teammates involved. He is a fearless competitor and really understands the defensive end of the floor and how to apply elite ball pressure on the opposing teams point guard. Steven is a high end D2 prospect.
3. Tyler Boyack (Maple Mountain) The 6’3 guard has grown 10 inches since his freshman year and doctors say there is still more to come. Tyler is a very crafty player and has range well past the 3 point line. Where he is still growing, a college team could potentially slide him to the shooting guard position, as well as having the ability to play the point. Boyack is very unselfish and really excels on the defensive end of the court where he has length and understands how to be in the right position to make plays for his team. Tyler is a D2 to JUCO prospect.
4. Shamon Willis (Westlake) Shamon has shown the ability to be a leader, as last year the Thunder were points away from playing in the 5A state championship. He is the lone returning starter for Coach Carling’s team, and a lot is going to be asked of him. Shamon will look to take on more of a scoring role this year and they will need him to do so if they want to get into the playoffs. Willis is a D2 to NAIA player.
5. Ethan Tucket (Lehi) Ethan is a good scorer for the Pioneers. He is looking to take more of an alpha dog role with 3 out of 5 starters from last years Lehi team have moved on to Skyridge. Ethan is a NAIA or JUCO prospect.
