Updated 5A Team Rankings
- Bingham (7-2) The Miners started off the Tarkanian Classic with a loss versus Salesian (CA) but have rebounded with two dominating wins over Deseret Pines (NV) and Denver East (CO). Branden Carlson and Dason Youngblood are both nearly averaging 11 points per game. Bingham will play for the consolation championship today versus Valor Christian (CO).
- Copper Hills (5-1) The Grizzles lone loss was a 4 point setback to #1 Bingham. Stockton Shorts has been the best player in 5A thus far with his 24 point per game average. Rowland Bolman has been shooting the ball well and is averaging 10 points per game. Copper Hills is off this week and will play four games in a Mesa, Arizona tournament next week.
- Pleasant Grove (6-0) The Vikings have played an easy schedule so far but have taken care of business. Matthew Van Komen has been playing well and is averaging nearly 20 points and 7 rebounds per game. Keanu Akina and Casey brown have been shooting the three very well and both are averaging in double figures. PG plays Mountain View this week before taking off to California for a tournament.
- Lone Peak (4-3) The Knights gave George Washington (CO), the #1 team in Colorado all they could handle before falling short in a seven point loss in Tarkanian Classic. Westminster College Signee Nate Harkness has been playing very well and has a 18 point per game average. Steven Ashworth and Max Mcgrath are also scoring in double figures for the Knights.
- Sky View (5-1) The Bobcats had their first setback against Idaho powerhouse Madison High School. Freshman sensation Mason Falslev is leading them in scoring with 12 points per game. His brother Peyton is also averaging in double figures. Sky View plays crosstown rival Logan and Highland (ID) this week,
- American Fork (6-3) The Caveman started off the Tarkanian Classic with two wins over Overland (CO) and Coronado (NV) then took a loss versus a good Sheldon (CA) team. Big-time prospect Issac Johnson is averaging nearly 13 points per game. Jake Whitehead is also nearly averaging ten points per game.
- Davis (7-2) The Darts picked up three wins in route to the championship of the KSA Holiday Tournament in Florida. There are no double figure scorers but they have four players averaging over 9 points per game. Davis plays a solid Fremont team this week.
- Jordan (6-1) The Beetdiggers have picked up two wins in the Tarkanian Classic versus Liberty (NV) and Putnam (OR). Spencer Curtis is the lone player averaging in double figures with is 14 points per game. Jordan has one more game in the Tarkanian Classic then will be off until next week when the will play in the Utah Autism Holiday Classic.
- Westlake (3-3) The Thunder player #2 Copper Hills to the final buzzer last week with a 5 point loss. Issac Lungren is leading the way with his 13 point per game average. Westlake will play an average Maple Mountain this week before heading off to California to play in a tournament.
- West Jordan (3-3) The Jaguars picked up a convincing 15 point win over a solid Riverton team. Darrian Nebeker is a playmaker and is averaging over 13 points per so far this season. West Jordan will play Syracuse this week before playing four games in the Utah Autism Holiday Tournament next week.
