This year however, things are wide open in Region 4. We are highlighting the top 5 players in Region 4. The Region includes Lone Peak, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Lehi, Westlake, Riverton, and Heriman. Here is our list.
- Isaac Johnson (American Fork) The 6-10 sophomore swingman is one of Utah’s great prospect’s. Johnson has the ability to go coast to coast and finish with a thunderous dunk, post smalls around the rim, or bring slower big guys out on the perimeter and be highly effective with guard skills. Isaac is a high D-1 prospect that has the talent to be a top 30 prospect in the United States for the class of 2019.
- Matthew Van Komen (Pleasant Grove) The 7’5 sophomore center is drawing a lot of attention has he ramps up for the season. Not only is Matt the tallest player in the state of Utah, he is the tallest player in the country for the 2019 class. He is the best Utah center prospect since Shaun Bradley. Bradley, who was also stood 7’5 and had a long career in the NBA, and played collegiately for Brigham Young. Look for Matthew to sign with a top ten college basketball program in the country by his senior year.
- Jake Whitehead (American Fork) The 6’6 senior forward is trying to show the state that he is ready to be a leader for the Cavemen as he takes on a new role as the elder statesmen on a very young, but talented AF squad. He brings the ability to rebound the ball and get up and down the floor in transition. Jake can finish with the best of them with his great strength and athletic ability. Jake is a sure fire D1 player with the tools to be a nice collegiate player on a mid-major.
- Nate Harkness (Lone Peak) The 6’4 Senior scored 29 points in the first outing of the season against a solid Layton team. Nate is a two year starter and looking to take on a heavy scoring and rebounding load with Lone Peak Legend Frank Jackson graduated and starting at Duke University this year. Harkness would be a great pickup at the D2 or NAIA level.
- Steven Ashworth (Lone Peak) The 6’ junior guard led LP in assists last season, and he really loves getting his teammates involved on the offensive end. Steven is a lethal shooter from the outside and has a great overall game. In the first game of the season, Ashworth had 11 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals to pace the Knights. Steven is a low D1 to high D2 player.
