25. Landry-Walker (5-4)
Now that the football team has been crowned champs, the basketball team will be at full strength. Don’t expect too many more losses from the Charging Buc’s the rest of the year.
24. Bonnabel (7-2)
The Bruins suffered a tough home loss last Friday to St. Paul’s 61-63, and lost the opportunity to claim a quality win. Now, they are just at two quality losses, but are yet to have a statement win.
23. Rayville (6-2)
The first of three teams to move into the Top 25 from the watchlist last week. After a nice revenge win against a tough Wossman team, Rayville did just enough to move up this week.
22. Woodlawn-Shreve (11-1)
After starting off to a blazing 11-0 start, including a win over Rayville, the Knights finally dropped one on Saturday in the finale of the Parkway tournament to the tournament host.
21. Wossman (4-5)
Don’t be fooled by the under .500 record. Wossman has played 6 teams in the Top 25, and every single loss has been a quality loss. You’ll be hardpressed to find a team in the state that has played a tougher schedule than Wildcats.
20. Lincoln Prep (11-3)
After starting the season on the watchlist, Lincoln Prep took it personal, and went 3-0 at the Northside tournament, including two big wins over a tough Northside squad, and a very talented McKinley squad.
19. Chalmette (5-3)
The Owl’s had a tough week last week, losing to two tough 5A state championship contenders, in Comeaux and H.L. Bougeious. In every win this season, the opponents didn’t score more than 65. Anytime Chalmette has given up more than 65, they have lost.
18. Ellender (9-3)
The Patriots dropped 3 spots, less because of what they did, but more because of what other teams did. After winning the H.L. Bougeious tournament, I am still unsure of what Ellender team is going to show up, night to night.
17. Comeaux (7-2)
The season might have started a bit rockier than the Spartans may have liked, but after a huge win on the road at Chalmette, Comeaux now has a statement win to hold their hat on.
16. St. Louis (7-1)
After starting the season 6-0, the Saints finally dropped a game to a good Derrider squad, but came right back and beat a previously undefeated Beau Chene team. I’m still not totally sold on this Saint’s team, but only time will tell how they will fare against tougher teams.
