1. Emery (8-0)
The Spartans are rolling. We would not be surprised if they went 21-0 going into the playoffs, they only have 5 challenging games left on the schedule. Koby Butler is just a beast and is leading the classification in scoring. Emery almost has 5 players scoring in double figures. Previously 1
2. Layton Christian (4-3)
The Eagles are playing well and they recently lost a heart breaker to 4A Roy at the buzzer. LCA is currently at the Tarkanian Classic, going 2-2 there is always an accomplishment. Christians Gutierrez is averaging 16 ppg. Previously 2
3. San Juan (4-1)
The Broncos look good on the scoreboard but they have not played anyone. Blake Jordan continues to lead the team in scoring with 16 ppg. It’s hard to tell how good the Broncos really are. Previously 3
4. Summit Academy (2-2)
The Bears played 4A Judge Memorial tight but couldn’t get stops late. Next up, Springville 4A (one of the best teams in 4A), Stansbury and Park City as well as a 5 game trip in California. The challenging schedule is helping build their Jr’s Eddie Wilson, Jalexus Gilson and Isaiah Green. Previously 4
5. Providence Hall (4-1)
The surprise of the the class picked up a good win over Waterford. They can prove to be for real with wins over South Sevier and North Sevier. The Patriots have 4 players scoring 9 points or more and are led by Tannon Peterson who is averaging 16 ppg. Previously UR
6. Manti (4-2)
The Templars have a tough schedule coming up, if they go 1-2 that would be a good thing. Mac Stevens is their stat stuffer right now on a deep Manti team. Previously 6
7. Waterford (6-2)
It’s hard to tell what Ravens team will show up in big games. They’re led by Alexander Priskos and Jackson Sponaugle are getting their numbers but it might not be enough
8. Enterprise (5-4)
The Wolves have had some up’s and down’s already but have won 3 straight. They have three players averging double digits in scoring and are led by Jo B. Shurtliff. Looking forward to their mach-up against South Sevier. Previously 5
9. South Sevier (3-4)
The Rams have been playing well two consecutive wins against 3A schools. With so many quality husrds they’re just outplaying some teams. Hats off to the Rams and their quality of schedule. Caleb Barton and Tyson Chisholm are leading South Sevier in scoring. Previously 9
10. North Summit (5-4)
If the Braves can figure out a way to go into region at 500. that would be a great accomplishment. Calvin Hunsaker is not having a breakout season thus far but he is playing well. Previously UR
By the end of this weekend we will be able to determine who Waterford is. They started the season off with high expectations but have a tough loss to Providence Hall and they got hammered by Emery. Alexander Priskos and Jackson Sponaugle are getting their numbers but it might not be enough. South Summit’s Kaden Atkinson only has (9) 3-pointers in 7 games which is an underachieving stat. If the Wildcats want to be relevant he is going to have to step it up. But none of this might mater the way Emery is playing.
