The season has been going for three weeks now and there has been several senior players who have risen their stock with exceptional play. Here is our list of senior stock risers:
Michael Scheffner, SR, 6’2 (Corner Canyon) Has come out of nowhere to tear up opposing defenses. Last year, he averaged 1.58 points per game but that has jumped to 24.8 points per game so far this season. Scheffner has provided consistent scoring and had 28 points in a win versus 4A power house Olympus in the Utah Elite 8 Tournament.
Trey Farrer, SR, 6’8 (Pine View) Has lead Pine View to a 6-0 start this season. Farrer has been dominating the competition with his post play. He’s averaging over 23 points and 8 rebounds per game. It will be interesting to see if Farrer can keep this production up when they play tougher competition.
Marcus Draney, SR, 6’3 (Skyridge) After a disappointing junior season at Lehi High School, Draney has come out of the gates blazing for the newly opened Skyridge High School. He is averaging over 23 points per game and looks near unstoppable thus far. He hasn’t faced top notch competition that he will face in a brutally tough Region 7.
Saxton Morby, SR, 6’0 (Fremont) Has been as impressive as any guard in the state through the first three weeks. Morby is averaging over 19 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game. His outside shooting has been a tough cover for opposing defenses and he is making three 3 pointers per game.
John Villanueva, SR, 6’6 (Hillcrest) Has been a huge presence in the middle for the 3-1 Hillcrest Huskies. Villanueva is averaging 10 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting 70 percent from the field. He also provides solid post defense and will need to guard the tough big guys in Region 6.
Dylan Hendrickson, Sr, 6’6 (Pine View) The lengthy wing has been a huge part why Pine View is off to a 6-0 start. Hendrickson is averaging over 12 points,6 rebounds and 2 assists per game. He is also a key defender for Pine View as he is able to guard every position on the court.
