The environment was absolutely outstanding during the championship game with fans from Lumberton and Fairmont came out in full force. Over the next few days we will discuss some of the standout players that played in the Championship and in the 3rd place games on Saturday.
- Fairmont HS 2017 Guard Jarique Moore: Although he has already signed to play football at ODU, this young man showed that he is no joke on the basketball court as well. He is a very quick guard that can get inside the paint as well as knock down the outside shot, finished with 16 Points in the Championship game and was named Tournament MVP
- Fairmont HS 20018 Guard Derrick Arnette : Without a question, Derrick was one of the best defenders in the tournament, his job was to contain Lumberton Guard Jordan McNeill. Even though McNeill still had an outstanding night scoring the ball, he made things as difficult as possible, playing very physical defense.
- Fairmont HS 2017 Wing Julius Caulder: Caulder is another player that excels on the football field but has basketball talent, he came up huge for Fairmont late in the 2nd half when Lumberton went on a big time run. Caulder knocked down three treys in a row to give the lead back to Fairmont, which they would hold on to for the remainder of the game.
- Red Springs 2018 Guard Caleel Mitchell: Caleel was solid for his squad as they competed with St.Pauls in the 3rd place game, he didn’t have his best shooting night but still found ways to score the ball and help his team. He has quick feet and hands which he used not only on the offensive side of the floor but on defense to come up with steals as well.
