TCU, Virginia Tech, and Southern have been the first three to offer, and there’s a growing list of additional schools that are showing interest.
“I have interest from WKU, Georgia Tech, and Houston. They’ve sent mail and talked to my coach, but I can’t talk to them because I am a sophomore,” said Wright, who mentioned some goals he has with his recruitment.
“I want to go to a university where I’ll get a great education and where I’ll play as a freshman. Since I’m only a sophomore, I’m not rushing recruiting, just letting the chips fall where they may. I just want to continue to better myself and improve my game.”
His game right now is to be a versatile guard. With great size he’s able to dominate, especially at the high school ranks.
“My game is very diverse, I think the best label for it would be all-around,” said Wright. “Since my shooting has improved, my game has become more unpredictable and better offensively.
He added: “I think my strengths are my ball-handling and my body; my body plays a huge role in my game because I can post smaller defenders, and my handle allows me to get by bigger defenders.”
Last season as a freshman, Wright averaged 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. This season he’s focused leading his team to state title.
“My role on my high school team is to mainly be a leader and help my team win. Also, my role is to be a scorer and to crash the boards as well. Last year I didn’t really have to lead because of the seniors we had, but this year I have to step into that role,” said Wright.
“I want to lead my team to a state championship this year. That is all I’m focused on right now.”
