The interest is light so far, and it’s been from Division I and Division II programs.
“Schools that have been contacting me have been Ferris State, Akron, Oakland, Northwood, Belmont University. I’ve gotten letters from Iowa and Kent State,” said Vallar.
“I’m seeing the most interest so far from, I would say, Ferris State and Akron. Ferris State calls me the most.”
He’s taken an unofficial visit to Ferris State and he mentioned he’s “supposed” to be heading to Akron and Oakland on unofficial visits.
He says he’d like to see some offers come in soon.
“Hopefully I just be the best player I can be, and I can turn some of this interest into offers,” said the 6-foot junior.
He’s in the middle of his first year starting with the Maroon Giants, and mentioned setting his teammates up and being a true point guard are strengths of his.
“My strengths are creating for other people off the dribble, and shooting off the dribble, and then defense,” said Vallar.
“I need to work on my 3-point shooting and being a little more explosive going up.”
Last year he was the sixth-man for Kalamazoo Central, this season his role in much-increased.
“My role is to run the team and create for others; and it’s going good, I like it,” said Vallar. “Some personal goals of mine are being all-conference and getting a scholarship.”
