So far, it’s very initial interest.
“I got a few camp invites from I think D3 schools, and I got a text from LA Tech, but that’s really about it,” said Reed, who elaborated on the Louisiana Tech contact.
“I had went to their elite camp, and they invited me back again.”
Reed says his recruitment is something that he sometimes concerns himself with, but he’s trusting the process.
“It’s in the back of my mind,” he said. “But recruitment will just come in the process of working my hardest on the court, and working on my grades off the court.”
A true floor general, Reed mentioned to PHLA what his strengths are as a player.
“My strength as a point guard is having the ability to score and being a captain on the floor. Also playing defense is probably a strength, and the ability to shoot the ball,” said Reed.
“I need to work on my help-side defense, free throw shooting, ball-handling could always get better, and then my IQ.”
After coming off the bench last season for the Cubs, Reed is now their starting point guard.
“My role on the team is to lead the the team on the floor, and then scoring. I have a much bigger role this year,” he said.
“I feel like my junior season has been pretty good so far. Really just scoring is what I’ve been doing well; just scoring and playing defense.”
