The 6-foot-3 small forward has heard from two area Division I programs and has a certain family link with one in particular.
“I’ve talked to Nicholls State and Northwestern State and that’s it so far. They’ve been sending mail, and have invited me to come and watch games,” said Robinson.
“I’ve visited Nicholls a couple of times for football, and both of my parents went there.”
He just wrapped up his junior season on the gridiron, and now is excelling on the hardwood. Robinson says he doesn’t necessarily have a favorite between the two sports.
“I don’t really have a preference. I mean, I like basketball more, but I feel like I could do very well at both — whichever one I set my mind too,” said Robinson.
“For football I’ve talked to way more schools, and was recently put on the all-regional team.”
Still with no offers for either sport, Robinson says he’s hoping for some offers to come in soon.
“I’m hoping that over the spring and the summer I pick up offers for both sports,” he said. “And I hope I land in a good spot for myself and for my family.”
A cerebral wing, Robinson considers himself to be a true game-changer, and he does it with what he says is a high basketball IQ.
“I think I have good leadership abilities, and my IQ is normally what gets the team going. I’m going to dive on the floor for loose balls and I’m going to give extra for my team,” he said.
“I need to work on my shooting and dribbling really. But I think my passing is a strength and court vision, and driving in from the perimeter is a strength too.”
Now well into his junior season with the Trojans, Robinson says his role is much different than it was a season ago.
“This year I’m a starter and last year I was a sixth-man. This year is a lot different, I feel like when I play smart our team wins,” he said. “My role is to be the leader and keep my mind on track and listen to what coach says.”
