“I’ve heard from Northwestern State and Southeastern (Louisiana), it’s been phone calls and text messages,” said the East Ascension junior.
“Recruiting is definitely something I’m thinking about. And I’m hoping some more recruiters to come and watch me — but not just me, my teammates too.”
A gritty type post who thrives on rebounding and blocking shots, Wire says dominating the paint is what he’s best at.
“I like to be aggressive in the paint, and not allow other players to come in there,” he said. “I like to block shots, I like to rebound, I like to post up. And if I don’t have it in the post then I like to kick out to my teammates, I’m a really good passer.”
He spent his spring and summer playing on the 16U circuit with Louisiana Future, and was molded into better player in the process.
“When I was playing with the Future, I thought I made a big impact by scoring the ball, and controlling the team,” said Wire. “I was was one of the team leaders on that team.”
Now he’s into his junior season with the Spartans, and it’s his first winter as a starter with the team.
“My role last year was to come off the bench and make an impact, my role this year is to start off the game with a big impact,” said Wire, who mentioned his primary goal for the season.
“Just to win a state championship for the first time in our school’s history.”
