Continue ReadingBlake Weiss is the top prospect for Mascoutah. The 6’5” power forward is a versatile forward that can play on both the interior and perimeter. He shows good hands catching tough passes inside for finishes. Very mobile four man that runs the floor tremendously well and works well in the pick/roll game. Solid body control at the rim going around guys. Tends to drift to the perimeter where he has pick and pop ability, but is a bit tentative to take it off the bounce. Solid D2 prospect that we will continue to monitor.
He spoke about his summer playing with the 16U Southwest Jets.
“We got a lot better as a team. We started coming together toward the end. We had a couple good tournaments.”
Weiss says his focus this offseason was on getting bigger.
“Probably getting stronger. I put on some weight and grew a little bit. Helps with finishing.”
He chatted with us about his game.
“Long term I think I am going to be a wing player so I have develop it. I have to play the post for my high school team. Whatever I have to do for my team.”
Weiss doesn’t have any offers, but is getting quite a few looks.
“SIUE, SIUC, Illinois State, Loyola, Western Illinois, Lindenwood, and Missouri State.”
Missouri State is a program he visited.
“The coaching staff was really cool. I meshed with them.”
