This season while boosting those averaged up to 21 points per game and 13 rebounds per game. Good enough for a double-double average. He has helped The Warhorses to a 5-1 record. PrepHoopsNC’s Justin Byerly caught up with Brown to discuss the season so far.
PrepHoopsNC: How’s the season going so far? Record, averages….
Mathew Brown: This season is going great, we are 5-1 so far. My averages are around 21 points, 13 rebounds and probably around 3 blocks.
PrepHoopsNC: What game has been the toughest so far and which other players in your conference do you think can play?
Mathew Brown: Our toughest game has probably been North Henderson, they beat us by 40 points last year. We played very well against them. I think the best in the conference is Me, Ben Craig, and Brian Bartlett. But outside our team probably Puckett from Avery.
PrepHoopsNC: What schools have you been hearing from?
Mathew Brown: I haven’t really heard from much schools, but I hope I will be in the near future.
PrepHoopsNC: What do you feel that you have improved on since last season and his summer.
Mathew Brown: I feel like my shot has gotten a whole lot better. My footwork in the post has improved too. I spent countless hours over the summer in the gym trying to improve my overall game.
PrepHoopsNC: What are the parts of your game that set you apart from other players.
Mathew Brown: I think I set myself apart by my awareness on the floor and my ability to be a team player. I try not to worry about my stats as much as I try to help out my team. I have gotten a double double all 5 games that I’ve played so far.
