“My expectations for playing at the varsity level are to contribute on and off the court to benefit the team as a whole as well as improve my all-around individual game,” Totusek said. “I have recently improved my post moves and my defensive IQ.”
Although he has mostly flown under the radar until this season, Kevin has already been contacted by several colleges, visiting three.
“I’ve heard from Hamline, St. Thomas, NDSCS, Saint Mary’s, Wartburg, Northland, Beloit, North American U, Silver Lake College, Knox, LSU-A, Loras,” Totusek listed. “I visited the first three, and NDSCS stood out because it is a D1 juco.”
He went on to detail what is important to him in a school, including an interesting academic interest that we don’t hear often.
“I would like to stay local and be in Minnesota or a neighboring state,” he said. “Division 1 would be cool, and I would love to play at that level, but I would also be okay with going to a D2 or even D3 school if they have the degree I want — music theory and composition and/or recording arts.”
Kevin is a multi-instrumentalist, playing bass guitar, guitar, trombone and piano. He will either decide after the varsity season or after another year of AAU.
