The Virginia Military recruit did not disappoint. He is a strong built guard who was hard to stop for Carolina Day School. He scored in a variety of ways and is blessed with elite athleticism.
Ratliffe will be able to come in at VMI and make a impact. He has the ability to score from almost anywhere on the court. He can attack off the dribble, has a college ready body, can play above the rim and has fight in him. He scored 29 points for the Knights in their game against Carolina Day and is averaging over 20 points per game. The 6-foot, 188-pound guard had offers from Newberry College and Charleston Southern before deciding on the Keydets.
Ratliffe can play off the ball and one of his biggest attributes for the next level is his strength and upper-body that will translate well. He does not back down from opponents and has something in his game that can not be taught. Fight. He has a natural gift of getting the job done on both ends of the floor and heart. His ability to create space is something that the VMI staff saw and in their eyes made them believe he was ready for that level of basketball. He gets high off the floor on his shot which allows him to shoot over other guards that may be his size or taller.
His Head Coach at Village Christian, Kurt Darden had this to say about his senior guard ”Jordan is probably the hardest working player that I have coached, he’s a very hard worker and brings it every day in practice. Just about every time we run sprints in practice he finishes first, he’s also a very unselfish player, throughout the season he could’ve averaged more points but he sacrificed his stats for the team. In the classroom he’s a great student, very respectful to the teachers and staff and gets very good grades.”
