Dunn has a combination of skill, athleticism and size to his advantage at this early age and college programs have taken notice. PrepHoopsNC’s Justin Byerly caught up with Damian this week to discuss his recruitment and season so far.
PrepHoopsNC: How’s the season going so far? Record, averages….
Damian Dunn: We just opened up the season monday with a competitive away game at jones senior. We are 2-0 right now. I am averaging 17 right now.
PrepHoopsNC: What game has been the toughest so far and which other players in your conference do you think can play?
Damian Dunn: The season opener was tough! Had a slow start the first half but came up in the second half more aggressive and looking for more open spots to distribute and score. There are alot of tough players all over our conference and it’s just so hard to pick out which ones are better than who because I know and my teammates know we are going to get everybody’s best! That’s just how competitive this conference is.
PrepHoopsNC: What schools have you been hearing from?
Damian Dunn: Right now NC State, ECU, Georgetown, VCU and Virginia. Tulane, Fayettville State and Old Dominion have offered.
PrepHoopsNC: What do you feel that you have improved on since last season and his summer.
Damian Dunn: Over the summer I have improved on being more aggressive on the defensive end, moving around without the ball and just having that “it” factor to take over games when I need to!
PrepHoopsNC: What are the parts of your game that set you apart from other players.
Damian Dunn: One thing that separates me from other players is that I make my teammates around me better. I hold them accountable for everything whether it’s on or off the court. Being a team leader as a sophomore is big role for me and I take pride of that. I encourage my team to come out every now like it’s there last.
