New senior names earn their spot every year and help programs win a large number of games. Here are some potential players ready to step up and make an even bigger impact.
Ben Bailey, 6’1, SR, Guard (Layton): Has averaged 25.5 points in two games this season. Bailey has come out no nowhere to do this as he averaged less than one point per game last season. He has knocked down seven three pointers and scored a game high 27 points in a win vs Weber.
Ethan Tuckett, 6’2, SR, Guard (Lehi): Had a big time game in a season opening win against Bountiful. Tuckett had 20 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Lehi lost several key players to the newly opened Skyridge High School which has given Tuckett an opportunity to shine.
Jensen Clifford, 6’3, SR, Forward (Northridge): Has been a much needed scorer for the Knights. Through three games Clifford is averaging 17.3 points per game. If Northridge has any chance of making the state playoffs Clifford will have to keep up this production going into Region 1 play.
Lewis Johnson, 6’5, SR, Wing (Viewmont): Has shown he is a high level shooter thus far this season. In two games Johnson is averaging 17 points per game and has knocked down seven three pointers. I believe he is a sleeper prospect in the class of 2017.
Boston Allen, 5’10, SR, Guard (Clearfield): The speedy guard has a nice game as he can score in multiple ways. Allen is averaging 21.5 points per game and has connected on seven three pointers in two games this year.
Alex Holley, 6’5, SR, Forward (Roy): Is averaging 14.5 points for the 2-0 Royals. Holley has the ability to score posting up and from the outside. He will need to keep his production in this range for the Royals to make a run for a Region 1 title.
David Peterson, 6’2, SR, Guard (Pleasant Grove): Is a nice complement to 7’5 Matt Van Komen with his outside shooting ability. Peterson had 14 points including three 3 pointers in a blowout win over Maple Mountain in the season opener.
