Prep Hoops gives its mid-season report on the CHL along with its prediction for the final conference standings. Conference records will be indicated in parenthesis.
Final Standings:
Wyoming 4-0 (2-0)
Madeira 3-3 (2-0)
Indian Hill 5-1 (2-1)
Mariemont 1-1 (5-1)
Deer Park 2-2 (1-1)
Reading 4-3 (1-2)
Taylor 2-5 (0-2)
Finneytown 0-4 (0-2)
With two games still against Madeira and one tilt to go still against Indian Hills, the Wyoming Cowboys still has some work to do if they want to claim the conference crown. Wyoming has the best starting 5 in the conference with four players averaging over 12ppg lead by Super Sophomore Joey Edmonds and his 17.5ppg average. Already have lost to Wyoming in December the Indian Hills Braves must win in the rematch with the Cowboys at home on January 24th. While all roads lead to that January matchup between the Cowboys and Braves as the favorite to win the conference, do not forget about Mariemont and in particular Madeira in the conference race. Madeira junior center Jack Cravaack, who is averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds per game on the season, is the type of player who can carry a team to a victory in any given night. Mariemont has been a nice story with a 5-1 start out of the gates, but expect their lack of depth and scoring to become a factor as the season goes along.
