Marquis McCoy– The 6’5 forward from Brookland-Cayce turned in a solid performance against Fort Mill high school by rallying 8 points 1 assist 3 steals and 6 rebounds. McCoy’s long wingspan proved to be very impactful to the game as they paved the way to 3 steals which turned into easy transition buckets. His harassing defense wasn’t the only thing fine tuned for this big man today, he also showed his touch close and at distance from the rim.
Mike Williams– The 6’1 guard from Brookland Cayce was meshing well with his team today. He was engaged in moving the ball around as he looked to be a very self-less player. He produced 7 points and added 3 assists in the low scoring loss to Fort Mill. Williams is a tough, quick, and sizable guard who has touch from beyond the arch.
Jonathan Bennett– The all of 6′ maybe 6’1, strong Sophomore guard from Summerville quietly played a stellar game that may go overlooked. He pitched in 11 points, 9 from beyond the arch, an assist, and a couple rebounds. He was involved in the transition offense game and the versatile guard showed his durability on defense causing havoc for opponents. Look for this guard to improve heavily as this is only his second year.
Josh Searcy– East Rutherford’s 6’5 Junior guard is a transfer from RS Central (Rutherfordton). He produced heavily in the limited minutes he played as the majority of their matchup with Union Co. was garbage time. He scored 7 points, collected 2 steals, dished out 2 assists and “almost” converted an and one dunk that would’ve been a shoe in for SportSCenters Top 10 play. The cavalier’s collective goal is to make a deep run in the state playoffs. This long, pesky, explosive 6’5 Guard is definitely eyeing D1 schools.
Stephen Archie– The 6’6 senior forward from East Rutherford pitched in a solid game with the amount of playing time he was allotted. He scored 11 points, collected 7 rebounds, and dished an assist. This tall, and quick big will play a key piece in the cavaliers’ quest for another state championship.
