But with that being said, there are still plenty of games to be seen during this holiday week. Prep Hoops is here to take a look at some of the top games from week four of the prep basketball season in the Greater Cincinnati area:
#7 Withrow (3-1) at Mt. Healthy (3-4), Monday 7:30pm: Good match-up to start off the week in Cincinnati. After a few down years Withrow looks to be a factor again in the prep basketball scene in Cincinnati as there off to a 3-1 start which includes win over the #8 ranked Division I team in Cincinnati Walnut Hills to start the season. The number seven ranked team in the city Division I, the Tigers are led by senior guard Davon Jorden who is averaging 19.5 points per game. For Mt. Healthy G CJ Rhodes must give a better performance than the 2 for 12 he put up in the Owls loss to Flagler Palm Coast as he leads the Owls at over 17ppg. Also watch c/o ’18 G/F DJ Brewton who averages over 10ppg for Mt. Healthy and has shown some versatility within his game in the past.
Prediction: Withrow
Hamilton Badin (1-3) at St. Xavier (2-1), Tuesday 7:30pm: This is a much improved St. X team from the one that finished with a 5-17 record for the 2015-16 season. The Bombers are finally at full strength after the completion of the football season, a season in which they the Ohio Division I state championship by the way. Lead by sharp-shooter Daniel Keyes and his 21 points per game average X has the size and experience to possibly crack the Division I city top 10 in basketball and become a factor during tournament time.
Prediction: St. Xavier
#1 Moeller (5-0) at #2 Oak Hills (4-0), Friday 7:30pm: This match-up has all the makings to be Game of the Year in the Cincinnati area. The top two Division I programs in the city, two legendary coaches (Carl Kremer-Moeller, Mike Price-Oak Hills) and lastly the in-city rivalry that is east side versus west side. Both teams have impressive victories in their resume which for Moeller includes a win over the top ranked team in Northern Kentucky Covington Catholic on 12/13 and for Oak Hills includes a victory over then #2 ranked Mason on 12/16. Whoever can limit turnovers, control the pace of the game and win the battle of the benches should have the edge in this match-up. The match-up between Cornell commit Riley Voss (Moeller) and Ashland University commit Ryan Batte (Oak Hills) should be a fun match-up to watch.
Prediction: Moeller
