The Basketball Interview…Kaden Elzy (2017)
Kaden Elzy is averaging over 12 points 3 assists and 3 rebounds per game for the 9-0 Dixie Flyers. Here is our interview we had with Kaden.
What are some strengths you have in your game that make you the player that you are?
“I like Creating for my teammates. I’m a pass first point guard but I’m able to score when my team needs a bucket.”
What are some of your weaknesses that you would like to work on?
“I would like to work on my rebounding and finishing over bigger defenders when I drive to the basket.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Utah High School basketball?
“Jaxon Brenchly from Ridgeline High School. He’s very unselfish and once he gets rolling he’s really tough to stopp.”
What team on your schedule do you want to beat the most and why?
“I would like to beat Deseret Hills and Pine View. They both are our big rivals and they both are usually good teams.”
What team that isn’t on your schedule in Utah do you want to play the most and why?
“Bingham. They are one of the best teams in the state and I’d like to see how we would match up with them.”
How do you see your team doing this year?
“We can go really far. The only way we won’t wont repeat as state champs is if we beat ourselves. We have a very unselfish teams that loves playing together.”
Who is your favorite NBA player and why?
“Chris paul. He’s always active on offense and defense. He’s always getting his teammates involved which is how I try to play.”
What is your favorite moment in your high school career?
“Winning the state championship versus Juan Diego last year.”
Who has the best home crowd in the state other than your own?
“Deseret Hills. They have a huge student section and a really nice gym. A lot of people attend their games which makes for a great environment.”
What is your favorite off the court activity and why?
“Spending time with my family and friends.”
What do you want to major in for college?
“I plan on studying to be an orthodontist.”
What is your plan for after high school?
“I would like to play at the next level. I’m willing to attend a college outside the state of Utah to achieve this goal.”
Prep Hoops evaluation:
Kaden is a true floor general who is a winner. He does whatever his team needs in order for them to win. Kaden is a really solid outside shooter which makes him a nice looking prospect. I think he would benefit from playing junior college which makes him a good junior college prospect.
