Top 10 Rankings-Regardless of Classification
With the season almost two weeks in books already here our rankings of the top 10 teams in the state regardless of classification.
- Wasatch Academy (6-2) The Tigers picked up convincing wins over Academy of Sports Science (Cali) and Timpanogos. They play Lone Peak on Thursday in the opener of the FreeTaxUSA.com Shootout.
- Bingham (1-0) The Miners were humbled by a 19 point beatdown by Las Vegas Power Centennial High School in their season opener. They rebounded with a nice 16 point win over Riverton.
- Olympus (2-0) The loaded Titans have picked up easy wins against Taylorsville and Cottonwood to start the season. They Will be tested this weekend in the Utah Elite 8 Tournament and will open up with Copper Hills.
- Lone Peak (1-0) The knights beat a solid Layton team by 13 points in their season opener. Will see how good they are on Thursday when they play national ranked Wasatch Academy.
- American Fork (2-0) The Caveman are loaded with talented big men and have nice wins over Layton and Provo. This weekend they play in the Utah Elite 8 Tournament and open with winless Bountiful.
- Pleasant Grove (2-0) The Vikings have picked up wins against Maple Mountain and Timpanogos. 7’5 Matt Van Komen has been unstoppable. The week they play Salem Hills and Payson.
- Woods Cross (2-0) The Wildcats averaged 83.5 points in two wins against Viewmont and Northridge. Trevin Knell has looked like the best player in the state thus far. This week Wasatch and Hillcrest are next for Woods Cross.
- Copper Hills (1-0) The Grizzles picked up a convincing win over an average Herriman team. Will find out how good they are this weekend in the Utah Elite 8 Tournament.
- Davis (3-0) The Darts are the best team north of Salt Lake. They have picked up wins against Uintah, Brighton, and Alta. Davis will also participate in a stacked Utah Elite 8 Tournament.
- Corner Canyon (2-0) The Chargers won their own tournament last week by beating Bountiful and Payson. The Elite 8 tournament awaits them week and will open against #1 in 5A Bingham.
