Top 10 Rankings (5A)

Each year during the high school season we will rank the teams in Divisions 5A down to 1A, with a quick explanation on each.
With the season almost two weeks in books already here our rankings of the top 10 teams in 5A.
- Bingham (1-0) The Miners were humbled by a 19 point beatdown by Las Vegas Power Centennial High School in their season opener. They rebounded with a nice 16 point win over Riverton.
- Lone Peak (1-0) The knights beat a solid Layton team by 13 points in their season opener. Will see how good they are on Thursday when they play national ranked Wasatch Academy.
- American Fork (2-0) The Caveman are loaded with talented big men and have nice wins over Layton and Provo. This weekend they play in the Utah Elite 8 Tournament and open with winless Bountiful.
- Pleasant Grove (2-0) The Vikings have picked up wins against Maple Mountain and Timpanogos. 7’5 Matt Van Komen has been unstoppable. The week they play Salem Hills and Payson.
- Copper Hills (1-0) The Grizzles picked up a convincing win over an average Herriman team. Will find out how good they are this weekend in the Utah Elite 8 Tournament.
- Davis (3-0) The Darts are the best team north of Salt Lake. They have picked up wins against Uintah, Brighton, and Alta. Davis will also participate in a stacked Utah Elite 8 Tournament.
- Sky View (1-0) The Bobcats picked up a good win over a talented Highland (Idaho) team. They will participate in the Cache Valley Classic this weekend and will open up against a good Ridgeline team.
- Westlake (1-0) The Thunder have solid wins over Bountiful and Springville with one loss against a good Payson team. They play this week against an average Alta team.
- Jordan (1-0) The Beetdiggers picked up a 14 point win over Weber in their season opener behind 31 points from junior Josh Christensen. They have easy games against West and Granger this week.
- Layton (1-2) The Lancers have played a brutal schedule playing 5A powerhouses Lone Peak and American Fork which both ended in losses. They rebounded with a 15 point win over Weber. They play Ridgeline and West Jordan this week.
