MVP: Tai Giger: The sophomore started hot during this game pouring in 13 first half points including three 3-pointers. He finished the game with 21 points.
Offensive MVP: Jordan Ratliffe: The VMI commit was scoring from all over the place and finished with 27 points. Coaching staff from VMI came to Asheville to see their recruit and he did not disappoint.
Defensive MVP: Ben Lochen: The big man who has committed to Randolph College was a beast in the paint. Blocking shots, rebounding and going after any loose balls. This was one of the best performances I have seen from the senior.
Best Guy off the Bench: D’Angelo Elliott: The sophomore had a great game coming off the bench. He only finished with four points but his play against Village Christian’s big men was game changing. He rebounded the ball well and cause turnovers with his defense.
Best Passer: Raishaun Brown: The sophomore has a great second half and finished with 13 points on the night. He was not much of a factor scoring wise in the first half but came alive in the second. His ball-handling was critical in the last two quarters of the game. His passing was key in finding the open man when Village Christian decided to press with the game getting into the final minutes.
Best Shooter: Luke Rutherford: The senior shot the ball consistently the whole game. He has a pure shot that he can get off on just about anybody. He is a skilled guard who has a strong upper-body and would make a great D2-D3 player.
Play of the Game: Late in the fourth quarter, a technical foul was called on VMI recruit Jordan Ratliffe. Carolina Day went to the line and made both free-throws in a crucial time of the game.
Best Intangibles: Luke Rutherford: The senior shooting guard does it all, he is tough as nails, his energy relays over to the rest of the team, he is unselfish, and is just a winner. You can’t teach what he brings to the game each and every night.
Best Underclassman: Raishaun Brown: The sensational sophomore continues to play among the best in the area for his age. He will be one of the top recruits out of this area by the time he is a senior.
