Day 1 of the Village Christian Tip-Off Tournament was Semi-Finals day, with just about all these teams stepping on the court for the first time it was no surprise that there were some early season jitters and miscues. However once the players settled in there were a few that really stood out and will be players to keep a close eye on as the season continues to go on. We would like to thank Coach Darden and the staff over at Village Christian for the invite and hospitality once again this season.
Jordan Ratliffe, Village Christian, 2017: Jordan signed his national letter of intent to VMI on Friday and during this game you could see why the coaches and fans at VMI are very excited about his arrival. He knocked down shots, and got to the cup just about whenever he wanted, with a college frame already his transition to the next level should be pretty smooth.
Rashad Royster, New Life 2017: Rashad plays the game with a chip on his shoulder so it was no surprise that he took this game personally. He scored the ball at a very high rate by knocking down outside shots as well as getting to the cup just about whenever he wanted, more importantly through this game he got teammates going and stepped it up on the defensive end.
Michael Parker, Costal Christian 2018: Michael was basically the 2nd option last year playing alongside star forward Brian Howell, not with Howell gone Michael has had to step up and into the leadership role. Throughout the game he didn’t score the ball much but instead looked to get other involved with some outstanding passing and cleaning up the glass with double figure rebounds.
Messiah Pankey, Grace Christian 2018: This young man is a bucket getter! He scored the ball with ease throughout getting to the paint at will by using his solid frame. He didn’t try to do too much but instead played within the flow of the offense to provide a major contribution for his team as far as scoring the ball.
