Blake Brinkmeyer (Valley)
It’s tough to move up once you’ve already cracked the top-5, but Brinkmeyer continues to see his recruitment ramp-up and moves up a spot because of it. He already has an offer from North Dakota, and big one from UNI; and he visited Creighton in September as well. The sky is the limit for this bouncy and long 6-foot-8 power forward.
From 4 to 3
Matthew Mims (Xavier)
From 10 to 7
This 5-foot-10 point guard continues to rise in the rankings after another strong summer. He was a catalyst with a Martin Brothers 16U team that was among the best in the Midwest, and he was able to pick up some additional Division I interest. He holds one offer right now, from North Dakota.
Nathan Johnson (Waukee)
From 14 to 11
Certainly one of the bouncier forwards in the state, this 6-foot-6 wing showed what he could do this summer with Kingdom Hoops Elite 16U — and he picked up an Air Force offer because of it. It’ll be interesting to see how he fits in this season with a loaded group at Waukee.
Camden Vander Zwaag (Johnston)
From 17 to 13
Like Johnson, Vander Zwaag spent his summer playing with Kingdom Hoops Elite. And also like Johnson, he picked up an Air Force offer because of his efforts. He’s one of those guys that when he misses from deep, you’re surprised.
Corvon Seales (North Scott)
From 19 to 15
After a strong sophomore season at North Scott, Seales carried that momentum into a summer playing with the Iowa Barnstormers. He recently visited Drake for an unofficial visit, and has Western Illinois and North Dakota inquiring as well.
Keith Johnson (Hempstead)
From 21 to 16
This kid was dominant at our Top 250 Expo in September, and after making several huge jumps in the last few installments of rankings, he continues a meteoric rise.
Ben Lyon (Ankeny)
From 58 to 42
He started his high school career as a key player at Ankeny Christian Academy. Then he transferred into Ankeny for his sophomore year, and learned the ropes. Now, he’ll be option B (Drew Maschoff is A) on an Ankleny squad that could surprise some people this season.
Max Campbell (Cedar Rapids Washington)
From 74 to 52
Another beneficiary of a nice showing at our EXPO in September, Campbell has gone from unranked to knocking on the top-50’s door in a hurry. He’s got a big frame, and he can bang in the paint or step out and hit a 12-footer.
Chance Gibbons (Ankeny Centennial)
From 97 to 83
As a starter last season on a 4A squad, and after some impressive showings this summer on the 16U circuit, we decided that 97 was too low. The ceiling is high for this well-build 6-foot-1 guard.
