“I am preparing for my junior year by getting stronger and improving my game all the way around,” Belka, said. “I have been hitting the weight room hard as well as getting in the gym everyday.”
The Royals won 20 games a year ago but they still have high expectations this winter.
“My goals for this year are winning the conference and making the state tournament. Last year we were able to accomplish one of those goals but came up short on the other. Our section is pretty though with maple grove and St. Cloud Tech so there will definitely be some great competition.
“This year as an upper class man I am really trying to be a better leader on and off the court as well. We had some great seniors last year as well as a great season so as a team we are trying to build off that.”
Rogers lost three athletic playmakers who happened to be their top three leading scorers plus Carik is back.
“We lost experience, scoring, and great leadership,” Jordan said. “Those seniors did a great job of showing the underclassmen how to play to each and every day. We bring back two starters (Mitch Spilles, Collin Franz) and Matt Carik who was our sixth man last year but should have a big senior year.
“Our JV team was very successful and we hope that as we mesh our returning players with our JV players we can continue to be successful. We were a very close knit team last year and we hope to carry that chemistry into this season.”
Jordan played for the Comets Servaty team that was top ten, top twelve in the state a year ago at the 16U level.
“I had a really great experience playing with the Comets last year,” Belka explained. “Playing with The Comets really helped me develop as a player.
“Playing against great competition on a day to day basis with the Comets really helped my game in an all around way. Playing multiple position with Comets also helped me become more versatile. The AAU season really prepared me for the upcoming basketball season.”
Schools know Jordan already and a number have called.
“I have been mainly hearing from a lot of MIAC and NSIC schools,” Belka said.
