Lunde was held back after his freshman year at Elk River before transferring to Wabasso where he’s played for the last three years. So he won’t be able to help the Rabbits on game nights this winter, but he’ll still practice.
For a lot of guys, that would essentially mean they are taking the year off. Lunde is hoping to play college basketball, so he’s looking to get as much out of the situation as possible.
“I can’t play my senior year because I was held back after my freshman year,” said Lunde. “I played basketball in Elk River but not varsity but it still counted as a year so I won’t able to play. I’m still practicing with the team and everything. Now I’m just working even harder in practice.”
Lunde’s game revolves around his activity level. He’s incredibly active inside and at 6-foot-4, he’s strong and explosive. He’s got long arms and he uses his quickness as an advantage against bigger players in the paint. He was standout at the Prep Hoops Top-250 Expo and his high-energy style has several colleges taking notice.
“Gustavus, Hamline and Jamestown are the three I’ve talked to the most,” said Lunde. “I’ve taken a visit to Hamline and I’m planning on visiting the other ones soon too. I’m up for anything really.”
Lunde may not appear in any games this upcoming winter, but colleges know the type of player they are getting. He’s planning on using his year away from game action as an opportunity to expand his game and be even better at the next level.
Rebounding is probably my best skill along with defense,” said Lunde. “I’m working on expanding my range and improving my ball handling too. I want to get bigger, stronger and faster as well. I’m a little bummed out but I’m looking at the positives as it can be another building year just to get better and ready for the next level.”
