There’s one area Division I school that the 6-foot-2 guard says is pursuing him the most right now.
“Drake right now is recruiting me the hardest, I’m actually going to their game to watch them play South Dakota,” said Seales. “And then Western Illinois would come after them. Briar Cliff sends me a lot of letters, and then I’ve seen stuff from Wisconsin and Nebraska. So it’s been a lot of different schools.”
The younger brother of North Dakota wing Cortez Seales, Corvon did mention UND was in the mix with his recruitment. But he was eager to talk about Drake during our brief phone conversation.
“With Drake it’s a lot of texting and letters, I get a letter from them almost everyday,” said Seales.
“I’ve been really focusing on my grades, and I’m really liking Drake right now. I like them a lot.”
With nice length and and well-developed guard skill-set, Seales — who sites defense and shooting as strengths of his — is poised for a breakout season with Lancers this winter.
‘He averaged 12.2 points and led the Lancers in assists last season before spending his summer honing his skills with the Iowa Barnstormers’ 16U squad.
Now he heads into an ever-important junior season ready to lead his guys.
“I’m just going to try and be a better leader than I was last year. Now I’m a year in and I know what it’s like, so I’m going to try and play that role,” said Seales.
“My coaches just want me to be a leader, talk to my guys and keep them involved, even when we’re down.”
