Cramer averaged 12.2 points per game last season as a junior, and with his teammate — and last season’s leading scorer — Fred Bickham out for the season (ACL), Cramer will have to up his scoring considerably this season.
“I’m going to probably be our leading scorer and the leader of the team. I’d like to be all-conference, and that’s my personal goal for the season,” said Cramer.
“We just want to win, that’s all. We just want to get as many wins as possible and hopefully make a run in the playoffs. And we feel like this is our year, this is it, we want to get double-digit wins.”
After a summer playing with the Iowa Cornsharks, Cramer has been able to pick up some local Division III interest, and recently took a visit to one southern Iowa program.
“Right now I’ve talked to Wartburg and Simpson, and I visited Simpson recently and those are the only two schools right now,” said Cramer.
“Wartburg just reached out recently, my mom forwarded me an email from them. And I like Simpson, it’s a little school, it’s not very big but I like the coach, he’s just honest and he told me about how they were and what their goals were and all that.”
But Division III schools can’t give athletic scholarships, and that’s an issue for the athletic guard.
“D3 is definitely an option, but I don’t think they offer basketball scholarships so I’ll probably just end up going to a community college or something,” said Cramer. “But I just want to play basketball after high school, that’s pretty much it.”
