He was just starting to show that at the varsity level until he underwent season-ending knee surgery on his patellar tendon last winter. Now, he’s nearly 100 percent again and looking forward to making a splash.
“I’ve been working really hard rehabbing and working out in the offseason to prepare my body for this season,” he told NHR. “I deal with knee pain every once in a while, but its pretty minimal. I’m still continuing to rehab some and it keeps progressing and feeling better and more comfortable as I’ve been playing on it.”
As a junior, Meyer is focused on taking care of the ball as well as improving decision making and shooting, as he anticipates having a larger role. He is also working on his lateral movement to become a better on-ball defender.
“As a sophomore, when I did play, I was a playmaker,” he added. “Creating shots for others around me and running the offense. I looked to pass first a little more than scoring, and I turned it over more than i would have liked to.”
In addition to all of aforementioned qualities, Meyer is also on pace to have a very good academic resumé. He holds a 4.2 GPA along with a ACT score of 29 (he will retake).
“I work hard in school and take difficult classes,” Meyer said. “I enjoy it as well. I have been working with a college advisor to help me with my college search. It’s still a process… I haven’t narrowed things down quite yet.”
