The 5-foot-10 junior averaged 7.2 points per game last season, and more impressive, he connected on 49 percent of his 3-point attempts
He did not however play grassroots ball this past spring and summer for what would have been his 16U season, and he says that’s a reason why his recruitment has been slow.
“I haven’t heard from any school yet, but a couple weeks ago I went to a William Penn camp,” said Morgan.
“I think it’s because I haven’t played any AAU ball or gone to any camps (until the William Penn camp).
Still with plenty of time for his recruitment to materialize, including next summer for a 17U season, Morgan says he’s not terribly concerned with the lack of recruitment just yet.
“Honestly I try not to think about it too much, but it is something that’s in the back of my mind,” he said. “But I’m going to play AAU ball next summer, and hopefully some recruitment will come then.”
Morgan was second on the Lancers last season dishing out 32 assists throughout the season, he says passing and finding open guys is what he’s best at.
“I believe I excel at my passing and finding guys that are open,” said Morgan. “And just finding guys that are making their shots and exploiting match-ups that could get us an easy bucket.”
With his junior season officially starting today (practice), Morgan mentioned to PHIA what his role will be this winter.
“I believe my team is looking for me to be not only a vocal leader, but a guy that can get it done on the defensive end,” said Morgan.
“I’m one of the biggest leaders on the team with North Scott. And in the past I’ve been really working hard to get my teammates the ball. But this year I’m really working hard to get my own shot, and be more aggressive and score for my team more.”
