Here is the PrepHoopsNC South Mountain Athletic Conference (3-A) Preview:
1. Kings Mountain High School (Kings Mountain, NC) finished last season at 20-9 (13-3 in the South Mountain 2-A/3-A Conference). They the conference regular season championship and advanced to the 3rd round of the NCHSAA Playoffs before losing to Cox Mill HS.
Kings Mountain lost 4 of our 5 starters from last season and will be young but really talented.
Key Losses: Jacob Skidmore (Lenoir-Rhyne basketball) Demetrius Hill (UNC-Charlotte, non-basketball)
Key Returners: Army commit Josh Helton 6’8 PF 2017 and Zeke Littlejohn 6’1 SG 2019. Newcomer Adrian Delph 6’2 CG 2018 will be a big time help. He has scored over 1000 points in his career already. Another newcomer is Shun Allison 5’8 PG 2017, a true PG averaging over 7 assist a game last year.
2. Crest High School- Finshed 15-12 last season and 11-5 in conference. The Chargers will rely on seniors this season as they return 2017 6-foot guard Cavious Hamilton who averaged 12.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last season. Also returning is 6-foot-3, 2017 F Tavian Brintley who averaged 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds in 19 games last season. Quante Williams, a 6-foot guard averaged 8 points per game and Wesley Bullard, also a senior averaged 7.8 points per game last season.
3. Burns High School- Finished 8-16 last season including a 4-12 mark in the South Mountain Athletic Conference. Loss of key seniors and the transfer of some underclassmen will again cause a rebuilding year in Lawndale.
