Max Carlson (6’0, PG, Virginia). We know the Virginia bigs and what they did for the 21 win Devils last year but Max Carlson also had a huge role. The all league PG will be a three year starting PG and is coming off a 12.5 point, 4 assist a game year when he doesn’t take many shots at all. A solid PG on a winner.
Ethan Edeen (6’5, PF, DGF). DGF made state last year with 25 wins and while they do lose the league MV and a couple starters, they bring back the name most know (Kyle Rothschadl) and Ethan who is one of their most valuable all around player. Ethan is the leading returning scorer at 13 a game to go with six boards.
Gabriel Eisenbacher (6’5, PF, ACGC). A prospect that some may be trying to hide and others need to call on. Gabriel is a state level high jumper who moves well laterally too. At times defends guards and wings but also plays around the basket. He is the Falcon leading returning scorer at a dozen a game plus grabbed six boards playing next to Adam Johnson (11 and 8 a game last year).
Matthew Franzen (6’2, SG, Milaca). This is that guy you will see among the scoring leaders and think “who?” Franzen scored 19.5 points a contest as a junior and is also a strong kid that can board as well. Averaged seven boards a game and will lead his team again as captain.
Carter Greguson (5’10, PG, Rochester Lourdes). An all league player as a junior who led his team in scoring and assists plus was second in boards, Carter helped the Eagles to 18 wins a year ago and expectations are even higher this year.
Tyler Oscarson (5’11, PG, Rush City). Tyler is a four year starter, a returning all conference player, and a player that put up 12 points, five boards, and four assists last season. Not often a four year starter slips under the rug for team that was several games over .500 but we found him now.
Blake Patrick (6’0, SG, Holdingford). A terror in the passing lanes, a playmaker both with his range and with his attack, and a returning all CMC first team player. Blake and the Huskers won 19 a game last year and Blake put up 14.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 3.2 steals a game. Wow. A player we all need to check out.
Cole Sohre (6’2, SG, Maple River). Maple River has a long tradition of good basketball and Cole is the leading returning scorer. Cole is one of the better shooters in his area, has good size, and is also an annoying defender who the team will look to for leadership.
Brady Stevens (6’3, F, St. James). Stevens was two boards from averaging a double-double last year with 16.4 points and 9.9 rebounds a game. He can guard multiple spots, plays the wing at times but is needed up front as well. Better athlete than first thought as he collects boards off the rim.
Trace Tebay (5’10, PG, Hayfield). Tebay was one of the most improved southern Minnesota talents a year ago scoring a dozen a game and defending as well as any guard in his league. Improved shooter who added nine points to his average last year.
Tommy Vilaypone (5’11, G, Warroad). Tommy isn’t a new name to NHR readers because we saw him at Gopher team camp and loved what he did. Need to tell you again how tough this guard is on an 18 win team that could make some noise. Hockey? Who needs hockey! Tommy V brings back 13.4 points, seven boards, and 5.5 assists a game.
Tyler Visser (6’4, PF, Hinckley-Finlayson). A double-double machine that put up nearly 18 and 12 last year, Tyler was an league player on an 18 1in team. He and TJ Johnson are an excellent pair that could push the Jags into the rankings and maybe even the state tournament. A dominating rebounder that plays inside and out. Comfortable on the perimeter.
