Hubb & Lykes a dynamic duo
Prentiss Hubb and Chris Lykes appeared to be in mid-season form during the brief practice session. Hubb, a long-limbed 6-foot-3 junior guard, is as smooth as they come with the ball. The lefty showcased incredible explosiveness, outstanding defensive potential, and a high motor. Expect the highly touted lead guard to narrow down his list of potential schools soon. Lykes, who recently signed his LOI to Miami and Jim Larranaga, exhibited his dynamic pace and game-changing playmaking ability both in the half-court offense and in transition. Expect this exciting and talented two-headed point guard monster to do serious damage on both ends of the floor.
Eddie Scott & Myles Dread do it all
Eddie Scott and Myles Dread could create serious mis-match problems in the WCAC this year. Scott, a 6’7″ UPenn commit, is a big time athlete with a tireless motor who can defend at a high level and consistently knock down 3 point jump shots. Dread, a 6’4 utility-type player, brings an added dimension of toughness, playmaking, and shot-making ability.
Mike Myers expected to step up
Mike Myers could be among the most improved players on this Gonzaga team this year. A big guard with a high IQ, Myers will be asked to stretch the floor and serve as an outlet on the perimeter. Expect Myers to be among the top five scorers on this team.
Additional Notes
One thing that stands out about this roster is its depth and versatility. Sophomore guards Anwar Gill and Josh Watts could emerge as X-factors with their respective two-way contributions off the bench.
Freshmen Terrance Williams and Myles Stute are expected to play key roles in the front court. Another frosh we liked in practice was point guard Chuck Harris. Harris will be a name to remember down the road.
