This afternoon at a private ceremony at Legacy Charter in Greenville, South Carolina 6-foot-10 power forward Nic Claxton picked The University of Georgia over North Carolina State, Baylor, South Carolina, and Florida State. “It was the school I was most comfortable with. I feel like I fit well with Coach Fox and the other players on the roster,” Claxton said.
The senior big man who plays with The SC Raptors Elite organization coached by Lamont Simmons is a skilled big man that can take up a lot of space with his length and can stretch the floor with his shooting ability beyond the three-point line. He averaged 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks per game his junior season and at Legacy Charter plays a 51-game national schedule to get him ready for the rigors of the Southeastern Conference schedule.
His father, Charles Claxton played at The University of Georgia in the early 1990’s and was a 1,000 point career scorer. He played briefly in the NBA with the Boston Celtics franchise.
Claxton is the second commitment for Mark Few and The Bulldogs for the 2017 class joining Georgia native and Norcross High School standout power forward Rayshaun Hammonds.
