Although some teams still had players missing due to football season there still was a very high amount of talent on the floor, listed below are a few players that stood out and who college coaches should keep an eye on this upcoming season.
Jahmari Harvey (Freedom Christian 2019, Guard) – Jahmari played very well throughout the jamboree, he was more aggressive and seemed to play the game with more confidence than last year. As a sophomore he is already in the 6’3 range and has a long wingspan to go with some extra athleticism he’s added. Throughout the day He attacked the cup without second guessing and even made some plays above the rim defensively, he didn’t back down or shy away from any matchup either which really impressed me. He already holds a D1 offer from SC State and this could be the year he has breakout season without a doubt.
Greg Gantt ( Trinity Christian 2019, Forward)- Greg is a player who stock is on the rise without a doubt, at 6’6-6’7 he can play the stretch Forward position which has become very popular these days. He can knock down the midrange shot as well as playing inside offensively and on defense can defend multiple positions.
Manrique Alvarado (Freedom Christian 2020 Guard) – This young man is a player to keep a very close eye on over the next few years as his skills and body continue to develop. He already has a very nice IQ for the game as well as crafty ball handling skill and vision, throughout the jamboree he made numerous plays against very legitimate defensive pressure. Only time will tell but from I saw this past weekend he has all the tools to be very good.
Ethan Herring (Trinity Christian 2017 Forward) – D2 schools should be blowing up the phone of this young man right now, he absolutely gets it done on both sides of the ball every game. He can defend inside without picking up silly fouls and plays well through physical contact when playing inside offensively.
Josh Nickelberry (Trinity Christian 2019 Guard)- This was the first time that I got to see Josh playing with Trinity Christian, but he already looked very comfortable and picked his spots rather well. As usual he knocked down the deep ball and attacked the basket showing his athletic ability, however we also saw some midrange pulls mixed in which makes him even more dangerous.
