Continue ReadingOne of the top prospects in the Charlotte area and North Carolina in general is returning home for his senior season after spending the last year at Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem. 2017 shooting guard Jaylan McGill is returning back to Olympic High School to finish out his high school career. McGill lost his father back in April to stomach cancer. Jeff McGill was a standout basketball player at Independence High School in Charlotte before a college career at Wake Forest and Eastern Kentucky. He played professionally in Europe and was a firefighter for the Charlotte Fire Department. PrepHoopsNC had the chance to catch up with the athletic shooting guard this week and here is what he said.
PrepHoopsNC: How does it feel to be back at home?
Jaylan McGill: It feels good to be back home , so that I can play my senior year in front of my friends and family.
PrepHoopsNC: How’s it going with Coach Terry, he has had some really good teams and players at West Charlotte. How is your relationship with him?
JaylanMcGill: It’s going really good with coach terry I feel he’s a good experience coach and he knows how to get us motivated to play hard and play like every game is our last I have a good relationship with him.
PrepHoopsNC: What are your goals for the season?
Jaylan McGill: Our goals for this year is to first win conference then compete to win states
PrepHoopsNC: What have you improved on from last season the most?
Jaylan McGill: From last year I have improved on my ball handling and becoming a leader the most.
PrepHoopsNC: What schools have you been hearing from and who has offered?
Jaylan McGill: I have offers from Lees-McRae , University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, and North Carolina Central but I have been hearing from Furman , Dayton and Southern Utah lately
PrepHoopsNC: What game are you looking forward to the most this season?
Jaylan McGill: Other than the tournaments, I am looking forward to our first game the most which is against Independence HS on the 29th.
