Conference Commentary
State Contender: None
St. Cloud Tech has the talent to be a contender next year and could have a fantastic record this year. Most of the this league is in Class AAA and it’s tough to call any of them a contender with DeLaSalle returning most of their team.
Top Ten Now: Fergus Falls, Rocori
The Otters were state runners up last year and return three of their four all conference players from a year ago. The Otters will be very good once again, likely better but Class AAA will be much better this year too. Getting back to the title game will be tough. Rocori will be good but coming in they don’t seem to be as deep as last year.
On the Verge: St. Cloud Tech, Alexandria
Tech has a collection of talent at every spot on the floor with depth included. They are big, athletic, skilled, and have a chance to be ranked in the top ten if they perform up to expectations. Alexandria was just near a 20 win team last year and they bring back their top two scorers.
In-Between: Sauk Rapids-Rice, Brainerd
Sauk Rapids-Rice has scorers up front in Cody Landwehr and Tyler Kranz plus some young agile wings but they lost Cam Jackson to transfer. Brainerd is always competitive and has Michael Russell back.
Rebuilding: Apollo, Willmar, Sartell
Apollo has a nice coach and is starting fresh while Willmar has been struggling for the last few years. Sartell is just a question mark, it’s tough to know what will happen there.
